Beer definitely has a colorful history, and it is definitely gaining ground on its once traditional role of being a day-to-day beverage, much like water, juice or milk. Home beer making is also gaining swift popularity with thousands of would-be brewers eager to learn the secret home brewing instructions.

As early as the 1620s, beer was being written about in a passenger’s journal on the Mayflower. Apparently due to a shortage of beer, the boat fell slightly short of its destination.

Did the Mayflower voyagers think of beer as we do? According to writings, beer was more of an every-day drink of choice of the people of that time, and each inn and tavern had its own special home brew flavor.

It’s true today that we see beer as having a dangerous quality, but before the time of regulation of drinking beer or alcohol, there were no laws that governed its consumption. Obviously, there were no drunk drivers or police traps and roadblocks to catch the offending party. I mean…really…I don’t think the early settlers were worried about the damage a horse and buggy could inflict!

Beer was more of a common beverage drunk by many, and households thought no different of it than any other drink.

When the settlers arrived here in America, they discovered that the Native Americans were participating in home beer making and used hombebrewing supplies in the form of corn or maize. They also had their own set of home brewing instructions that they carefully followed.

Do you think their home brew was severed at the first Thanksgiving? I don’t know!

Beer does certainly have an interesting history, and the hobby of home beer making is growing exponentially!

Are you thinking about taking on the hobby yourself?!

If so, the Beer Brew Bible has the exact home brewing instructions…secrets for sure!
