why is this jacket dry clean only?

i got a jacket at goodwill, it feels a little like a jean jacket but is dark khaki in color. it says 100% cotton, and dry clean only. why would something that is 100% cotton need to be dry clean only? would having little leather tabs with velcro be the only reason? could i wash it, but hang dry it?

100% cotton usually shrinks thats why they tell you dry clean just in case. you could wash it gently in tepid water and hang to dry if you want ti take the chance and don’t dry by heat that will shrink and tighten it also
